There’s nothing like generating art without ever having to pick up a pencil. And while Snowpixel offers plenty of AI-generated art based on your prompt, there are quite a few tips & tricks to making the most of your account.
Today, we’ll show you a step-by-step guide to creating AI art with Snowpixel, including best practices that helped create some pretty awesome artworks.
Let’s dive in!
Step 1. Choose Your Text Prompt or Image to Generate AI Art
Getting started with Snowpixel is pretty easy. You can use your text prompt or an existing image to generate similar images.
You can be concise, using short prompts (2-3 words). However, you can also use more descriptive prompts.
Here is a raw short prompt: "I am lost"
In using raw prompt like this, you have no control over colors, background, style of image. So you can add touches like :
beautiful, realistic, hyperrealistic, highly detailed, surrealism, trending on art station, pastel colors, triadic color scheme, smooth, sharp focus, matte, intergalactic, gloomy, octane render, 8k, 4k, washed colors, sharp, volumetric lighting, epic composition
You can also add styles like :
Oil painting of, sketch , drawing, illustration, photograph, woodcut, embedding, doodle art
Carol, one of our users, entered “Beautiful doodle art with beautiful urban characters embedded in the art” and got incredible AI-generated art:
Step 2. Select Your AI Model
Once you insert your prompt or upload an image, it’s time to choose the AI model. Snowpixel will run your prompt through it to generate images.
For example, the Creative model works for both text and images. It’s great for layering on existing images!
On the other hand, the Structured model features more recognizable shapes. It is great to start with this model first.
Love an image? Use Similar Model to build more like it
You can test the Similar model, too! Based on the similarity level, you could get images that look very little like your original - or fit the style and tone to a T.
Check app guide here for navigating the app.
Step 3. Model Layering (Where the Magic Happens!)
Model layering is the step where you’ll get really fantastic results.
Once you generate your initial set of images, select those you like.
Then, try different models on top of each other to get stylistically-unique results.
For example, we’ll run the “Mindblowing Universe” AI-generated images through the ‘Structured’ model:
Running Creative model over above image yielded below result :
Note : Images are shown in 512x512 resolution in the app, kindly download them to get 2048x2048 resolution
If you like one image in particular, you can apply different models to it to generate more unique AI art:
- Generate Pixel art
- Run Creative model over it
- Generate similar images
- 3D Animate
- Generate evolving video
Animating Your AI Art
If you need share-worthy videos that pull viewers into your world, try turning your generations into videos or 3D animating them. You’ll get some fantastic results, especially if you’ve previously run the images through different models.
Best Practices for Generating AI Art
Combine different models. If your initial model was Drafts, select images you like and run them through Creative.
Try the Similar model if you like an image, but it doesn’t feel 100% right.
If you want to experiment with model layering, Snowpixel users like starting with the Drafts model. Since it offers hundreds of images, it gives you control over the results you like and want to layer on.
If you want your AI art to feature faces and bodies, run it through the ‘Structured’ model. It’s much better at depicting them than the Abstract or Creative model.
There’s no limit to how many times you can layer on models. The Snowpixel AI will treat each image like the original, giving you thousands of possible options.
Step 4. Post-Processing Your Generative Art
Once you’ve found the AI art you’re happy with, it’s time to post-process it.
Post-processing largely depends on your goals.
For example, Sharonlee often uses Snowpixel to generate background art for her comics. Once she’s satisfied with Snowpixel’s generation, she adds additional elements (for example, flowers and faces) in Picsart.
How to Use AI Art
Since Snowpixel art is high-quality, it’s easy to resize it to your desired dimensions. For example, you can create a high-quality book cover.
If you use AI art to develop concept art for your games or drawings, you can refine it with sketching software. Artists who prefer music or writing to drawing can use Snowpixel to create cover art or inspirational images for characters and scenes. Check how below fantasy characters were created.

Discord mods sometimes even use Snowpixel to create custom stickers in line with their communities.
If you’re tired of finding unique illustrations for your marketing collateral, you can also use Snowpixel. You’ll get fantastically unique results that align with your brand. Simply upload an image and then use the ‘Similar’ model.
Is AI Art Royalty Free?
It is with Snowpixel!
Every tool has its own algorithm so, in some cases, you may not be able to use your AI art if you haven’t used royalty-free images to generate it.
But since Snowpixel uses millions of data points to generate unique art, it’s yours to use. (Still, we recommend either using a text prompt or running it through multiple models to ensure it’s 100% unique.)
Experiment with Models and Generate Unique AI Art
Ultimately, you’ll see the best results if you experiment.
Start with a model that generates plenty of results (e.g., the Drafts model), select the images you like, and run them through additional models.
You’ll get beautiful art before you can say: “This snow is pixelated!”
